What if you could...

Detect issues that cause on-scale failures?

Detect issues that cause on-scale failures

Detect hidden issues that may prevent your device from outputting higher mA values

Ensure that the transmission of the 4-20 mA signal between the transmitter and control system has not been compromised
Monitor the health of your pressure transmitter wiring and power supply

Know when the health of your transmitter electrical loop and power supply has been impacted by one of many factors

Detect changes that can compromise the accuracy of the transmitted 4-20 mA signal by continuously monitoring the transmitter electrical loop
Protect Loop Integrity with Power Advisory Diagnostics
The optional Power Advisory Diagnostics capability of the Rosemount 3051 continuously monitors the electrical loop to detect changes that compromise the integrity of the transmitted 4-20 mA output signal. The electrical loop begins at the transmitter wiring terminals and continues all the way back to the control system terminals.

Water in the Junction Box or Terminal Compartment

Condensation in conduits can seep into the terminal compartment of a transmitter or field junction boxes. This condition can introduce current leakage into the electrical loop which means that the control system will be receiving invalid information even though the transmitter is operating correctly.

Wiring and Grounding Issues

Wiring may become damaged over time. This can cause a change in the resistance of the electrical loop or even introduce current leakage which means that your control system may not be receiving accurate information.

Corroded Terminals

Corroded terminals, at any point in the electrical loop, may increase the resistance in the electrical loop, potentially preventing the device from outputting a higher mA value. Corrosion can also introduce current leakage resulting in corruption of the received 4-20 mA signal.

Power Supply Issues

A failing power supply may not be able to provide sufficient power to a transmitter. This means that the transmitter may not be able to output higher mA values or reach high alarm.

These issues can produce an on-scale failure that may result in inappropriate control actions causing even bigger problems.

The Rosemount 3051 with Power Advisory Diagnostics is able to detect these failure modes by using a characterization process where the transmitter quantifies the electrical characteristics of the 4-20 mA loop at installation and then monitors for future changes protecting the integrity of each measurement.
